A new contract will be signed soon for TransOceans
contracting to build a compound of 6 villas in Abu Dhabi” a
Transocean’s official told TransOceans.net early this week.
According to this official the new contract will be for
almost 1 year with a cost of nearlu 7 million ADE. “The new
contract will be on of a series which will be signed in
coming weeks” said the official .

Arabtec Construction has won a Dh3 billion
(US$816 million) contract – its largest residential contract
in the UAE so far this year – to build the first 1,500 homes
at Nakheel’s Al Furjan development in Dubai.The project will
include 4,000 villas and terraced houses across four
communities.

Nakheel, the Dubai-based developer, will
require all property developers working on its projects to
meet strict international environmental standards. Nakheel
will use the benchmark Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and
Environmental Design) standards set by the US Green Building
Council.

President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed
Al Nahyan, in his capacity as the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, has
issued a law restructuring the statutes regulating housing
loans for citizens in the emirate.The Law No 9 (Year 2008)
is meant to support the welfare of Emiratis and raises the
maximum loan limit from the Private Loans Authority from the
current Dh1.2 million to Dh2 million, repayable within 30
years in equal installments with no interest.

Further legal clarity on what constitutes
freehold would go a long way in giving another qualitative
